ODOT to close major Portland-Beaverton connection for nine months

(PORTLAND TRIBUNE) — Beginning Monday, March 4, the Hall Boulevard overpass near Highway 99W and Pfaffle Street in Tigard will close for an estimated nine months.

The closure will start just north of Pfaffle Street along Hall Boulevard and will extend a few feet past the south of end of the overpass, which crosses Highway 217. Motorists traveling along the road will be detoured.

“We need to demolish and then rebuild the overpass with wider footings to make room for the new auxiliary lanes and shoulders underneath,” said a statement from the Oregon Department of Transportation. “The new overpass will include wider sidewalks and bike lanes, be more earthquake resilient, and Americans with Disabilities Act compliant.”

(Keep in mind that this doesn’t include a second Hall Boulevard overpass, which also crosses Highway 217 but between Southwest Scholls Ferry Road and Southwest Cascade Avenue.)

During the closure, a bike and pedestrian crossing will be available throughout.
