ODOT announces four road construction projects in Fairfield County this year

LANCASTER − The Ohio Department of Transportation is spending $2.8 billion on infrastructure improvements this year, which the agency says is a record.

“While the orange barrels that are synonymous with summer may be a source of frustration and inconvenience for some, they are a sign of progress and improvement for all who live in Ohio and who travel through it,” ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks said in a press release.

Four of the scheduled projects are in Fairfield County. They are as quoted in the press release:

  • PICKERINGTON ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENTReplacement of the structure carrying Pickerington Road over Walnut Creek, 1/4 mile south of Winchester Road.Start Date: May 2024Completion Date: October 2024Project Cost: $458,000Traffic Impacts: Road closureREFUGEE ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS Intersection improvements along Refugee Road at four intersections: Harmon Road, Education Drive, Milnor Road, and Pickerington Road.Start Date: January 2024Completion Date: November 2024Project Cost: $3.6 millionTraffic Impacts: Lane restrictions
