Ocoee Police: 11-year-old in custody after fatally shooting adult relative
A 55-year-old woman died Friday morning after being shot by an 11-year-old relative, according to Ocoee Police.
The child, who lived with the woman, was taken into custody, authorities said.
Just before 8 a.m., police responded to a call of a shooting in the 1000 block of Idaho Court in Ocoee, where they found the woman had been shot inside a home, according to a news release from the Ocoee Police Department.
The woman was rushed to Advent Health Apopka where she died, according to authorities.
Police said they are still investigating the shooting but are not pursuing any other suspects.
The Orlando Sentinel is withholding the name of the victim at this time to protect the identity of the minor.
