For the third time in four years, the Hawkeyes make it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Now while they have loftier goals in mind, to be one of 16 remaining is pretty sweet.

“I don’t think we’ve always realized how hard it is to get to this point,” Caitlin Clark said. “It’s really special. It’s unique, not many teams ever get to do this. I’m just really grateful that I get to do that. We have another week with this group to try to win one more, and then another one after that.”

“If you’re one of 16 at this point, you’re a phenomenal team,” Kate Martin said. “You’re really good and you have been all year for the most part. We’re extremely grateful that we’ve got to this point, but obviously we’re not done.”

Their opponent will be the Colorado Buffaloes, the same team they faced in last year’s Sweet 16. That game was a battle and it could be more of the same as the Hawkeyes look to get to the Elite Eight and beyond here in New York.
