New Obama Ad Touts Colin Powell Endorsement

The Obama campaign released a new ad on Thursday touting the recent endorsement of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who served in the Bush administration.

The 30-second spot, called “Solid,” takes Powell’s endorsement from CBS’s This Morning, highlighting his praise of the president’s handling of the economy and foreign policy.

“When he took over … we were in one of the worst recessions we had seen in recent times, close to a depression,” Powell says. “And I saw, over the next several years, stabilization come back in the financial community. Housing is now starting to pick up … the President saved the auto industry … the actions he’s taken with respect to protecting us from terrorism have been very, very solid. So I think we ought to keep on the track that we’re on.”

The ad will air in the key battleground states of Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina and Virginia. More notably, the ad will also air in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where Obama is trying to keep his footing after a late push by the Romney campaign.
