Obama Has 6-Point Lead in New Bloomberg Poll
President Obama is seeing more good polling numbers, this time from the latest Bloomberg National Poll, which finds him ahead of Mitt Romney among likely voters, 49 percent to 43 percent.
The results have some troubling news for Romney, as well. Half of Americans have an unfavorable view of the former Massachusetts governor, which Bloomberg reports as “a September high for a presidential challenger in the last three decades.”
Additionally, 49 percent say Romney is out of touch, compared to 40 percent who say the same of Obama, according to the poll.
Obama’s positive numbers come despite 53 percent of respondents saying they disapprove of his handling of the economy and 60 percent saying the country is on the wrong track. Romney and Obama were almost evenly split on the question of who would be best at creating jobs: 47 percent said Romney and 45 percent said Obama. The two were tied on the question of who would be best at jump-starting the housing market, though Romney had an edge – 46 percent to 39 percent – on who would better deal with gasoline prices.
The poll was conducted among 789 likely voters from Sept. 21-24. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
