Oakland police search for vehicle in connection to fatal hit-and-run

(KRON) — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle in connection to a fatal hit-and-run on Jan. 9, the Oakland Police Department announced in a news release Wednesday. The car is described to be a white Toyota RAV4 SUV with an unknown license plate.

The collision happened around 1 p.m. in the area of the 2300 block of San Pablo Avenue, according to OPD. The hit-and-run killed Kim Barranco, 59, of Oakland.

The driver of the Toyota has not been identified by OPD. The driver may not have known that they hit the driver, the department said.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to contact OPD’s Traffic Investigation Unit at 510-777-8570.
