Oakland burglar seen swiping suitcase, ignoring witnesses and cameras
OAKLAND, Calif. - A car burglar on Oakland's Piedmont Avenue had no qualms about being recorded - or yelled at - by witnesses.
Video shared with KTVU shows a man in a blue hoodie peering into a Nissan Rogue parked outside a popular café in the busy shopping district at about 7 p.m. Sunday.
Two windows have already been broken. He then goes to the trunk and pulls out a piece of luggage.
"Oh that's so sad, all of the luggage," one witness remarks.
Another witness yells out, "You piece of s-!"
The man doesn't visibly react, but instead calmly opens the door to a Nissan Sentra double-parked on the wrong side of the road, puts the luggage inside and drives off before making a turn onto 41st Street.
He broke into Nissan Rogue outside Caffe Chiave on Piedmont Ave. in Oakland, stole luggage belonging to woman from out of state & took off in Nissan Altima. “The thief saw bystanders recording him, my wife started recording him as well, but nothing fazed him,” witness tells me pic.twitter.com/9NIKXB2U1N

"That's so sad," one witness repeats.
That witness later told KTVU that he and his wife were walking their dog and saw people standing around, watching the incident unfold.
"When we paid attention, we realized that a break in was going on," he said. "You could see that the thief saw bystanders recording him. My wife started recording him as well, but nothing fazed him. He broke two windows, took his sweet time and took the suitcase from the car. We later found out that the suitcase belonged to a lady who was traveling from out of state."
