Oak Leaf Festival plans craft show

Feb. 29—Looking ahead to the silver anniversary of the Oak Leaf Festival, event organizers are planning the Oak Leaf Festival Spring Fling Craft Show on Saturday, March 2 at the Lewis Christian Community Center.

The event will be held from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

"This is the festival's 25th year and we are trying to go a little bigger this year," said OLF director Saundie Smith.

The proceeds from the craft show will be used to fund bands and other projects for the fall festival, Smith said.

"We are hoping people come out and support the vendors," Smith said. "We will be having music, food and fun.

"We're just trying to get a lot of people to come so the vendors will do well."

Vendors have registered from locales such as Bridgeport and Webster Springs, Smith said. As of late in the week, there were some vendor spots available.

Anyone with any questions can call Smith at 304-663-1608.

The big goal is to generate money to help secure the showcase bands that will anchor the weekend entertainment for the festival, Smith said. "We just need to raise money for the bands. We're trying to make things a little bigger this year since it's the 25th year."

Shows by The Eagles and Journey tribute bands the last two years were "awesome," Smith said.

The Lewis Christian Community Center is located at 469 Central Avenue in Oak Hill.
