NYPD issues pictures of suspect in attack on Manhattan bouncer, 61, severely hurt while working at Chelsea bar

Police released photos Saturday of a man they suspect punched out a 61-year-old bouncer outside a bar in Manhattan.

The bouncer was on duty at Billymark’s West Bar on Ninth Ave. near W. 29th St. in Chelsea at 3 a.m. on Dec. 24 when he got into a fight with the suspect, who is believed to be 40 to 50 years old, cops said.

Amid the scuffle, the bouncer hit the suspect, who then slugged him in the face. The blow caused the bouncer to fall back, and strike his head on the pavement, cops said.

Medics rushed the victim, who was bleeding heavily from his head, to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries on Friday. His injuries include a fractured skull and brain damage, cops said.

His attacker remains at large.

Surveillance photos of the suspect after the incident showed him wearing a red Champion hoodie sweater, black jacket, black pants and black sneakers.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
