NYPD detective fires at car during Bronx traffic stop

An NYPD detective fired off a shot at a vehicle during a Bronx traffic stop, police said Thursday.

The officers pulled a 31-year-old man over near the intersection of E. 233rd St. and Harper Ave. in Edenwald around 2:45 p.m., cops said.

The traffic stop went sideways, but a police spokesperson could not elaborate on why the detective pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit the driver’s car. No one was injured.

Police arrested the driver and recovered a gun that was in his possession, cops said.

The detective was taken to a local hospital for tinnitus.
