NYFW: Libertine thrills with psychedelic Spring 2018 collection

Leave it to Libertine.

Designer Johnson Hartig brought forth his usual display of colors, prints, textures and psychedelic fun for his Spring 2018 collection, shown at New York Fashion Week on Monday evening.

With stars like Skai Jackson and Aluna George looking on from the front row, male and female models donned suits printed with Warhol-esque bananas, dual-toned sequin hoodies, sheer two-pieces strewn with lettering, embellished pirate hats and more.

Johnson told Vogue that Liberine's "philosophy doesn't change much from season to season," but when your philosphy is "about pushing rules, expanding ourselves, expanding our collection," then that isn't an issue. We're always going to get something new, exciting and expectedly unexpected from Libertine.

As the models strutted in high-fashion sweats, outer space-inspired dresses and trench coats printed with dogs, Madonna's "Holiday" blasted on the speakers, and we felt as though we truly were on a holiday from today's devastating news cycle.

Following the show, Johnson took to Instagram to expand on his philosophy and intentions for the collection in our current climate.

"The thing is," he wrote. "What we're doing together DOES have the power to change lives... every action has a reaction, and an action made with love reverberates endlessly across the universe...its a symphony made up of many ..... thanks everyone that was a part of it, and that attended- together we changed the world in a small positive way tonight through love."
