For their Spring 2018 collection, BCBGMAXAZRIA takes us to the "City of Angels."

It was the first for the brand's new creative director, Bernd Kroeber, who currently oversees BCBGMAXAZRIA, Hervé Léger and BCBGeneration.

For Kroeber, the flirty and lively line serves as homage to the beauty and glitz of Southern California, with Los Angeles inspiring the collection. The collection, separated in three parts, is emblematic of varying Los Angeles landscape. While the "City of Angels" merely refers to the duality of the city, both its urban and seaside characteristics, "Victoria Canyon" is indicative of Los Angeles' incredible nature. Lastly, titled "Nostalgia Beach," the third delivery refers to the imagery and nature of Malibu.

"My vision for this collection was the beauty of Los Angeles -- a tribute to our hometown. We are tapping back into our contemporary roots and our mission to make women always feel beautiful and effortless," Kroeber explained.

For the ready-to-wear collection, Kroeber stays true to these three different themes, playing on different color palates, textures and materials. For the first, he employed nautical blues and sunrise shades of pink, a chromatic decision we loved in particular. Playing off of these bohemian styles, the whole presentation evoked a sense of liberation for the audience, who at their leisure, were able to examine the designs more closely.

Kroeber's revitalization of the brand makes many of their pieces a closet staple come spring, when we're all about lace dresses, light bombers and cold-shoulder ensembles.
