NYC public housing tenants get storm rent credits
NEW YORK (AP) — Public housing tenants in New York City will be eligible for rent credits for the days they have been without power since Superstorm Sandy struck two weeks ago.
The city Housing Authority said Sunday that tenants will get a rent credit for any days in which they were without essential services such as electricity, heat and running water.
Rent credits will be included in the January 2013 rent bill.
City officials say about 6,000 residents of low-income housing are still without power in 30 buildings.
