NYC mayor-elect de Blasio meets with Bloomberg

November 6, 2013

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is meeting with his successor, Bill de Blasio (dih BLAH'-zee-oh), at City Hall.

The private meeting Wednesday morning occurred hours after de Blasio became the first Democrat elected mayor of New York City in a generation.

De Blasio says he "feels great." When a swarm of media followed him up the steps at City Hall, he marveled: "All this, it's incredible."

The public advocate comes to office hoping his landslide victory will grant him a mandate to push forward an ambitious liberal legislative agenda and tackle a looming fiscal crisis.

De Blasio takes office Jan. 1.
