NY Sandy probers seek info from transit agencies
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The New York commission that's investigating the performance of utilities before and after Superstorm Sandy is seeking key documents from transit authorities.
Letters asking for detailed information about the preparation and response of utilities were sent Thursday to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The Moreland Commission authorized by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued subpoenas Wednesday to utilities. At the height of Sandy, more than 2 million New Yorkers were without electricity.
Restoration of service took days and sometimes weeks.
State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman had previously issued subpoenas in a separate investigation of the utilities' performance.
