NHL-New York Rangers beat Montreal Canadiens to reach Stanley Cup


May 29 (Reuters) - The New York Rangers beat the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 on Thursday to win the National Hockey League's Eastern Conference championship and clinch a place in the Stanley Cup finals.

The Rangers won the best-of-seven conference series 4-2 to advance to the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1994. They will play either the Los Angeles Kings or the Chicago Blackhawks when the Stanley Cup Finals start on June 4. (Reporting by Julian Linden in New York; editing by Greg Stutchbury)
