NY man dresses up as Santa Claus, delivers presents to children whose toys were lost in storm

NEW YORK, N.Y. - For the children whose toys floated away during Superstorm Sandy, Michael Sciaraffo is playing the role of a real-life Saint Nick.

Every afternoon and night, the Brooklyn man stuffs his red sack to the brim with presents and heads out to storm-ravaged homes. He is personally delivering new toys to awestruck little kids whose play rooms were destroyed by floodwaters.

The "Secret Sandy Claus Project" grew out of a Sandy donation outreach effort that Sciaraffo spearheaded after the storm. He used Facebook to drum up donations of clothing and food but as Christmas drew near, started asking for toys.

Using a spreadsheet taped to a wall, he matches toy requests with donations that are coming by the truckload from all over the country.
