NWS reports 2 tornadoes in Kankakee County
KANKAKEE COUNTY, Ill. — A round of showers and storms sweeping through parts of Illinois on Tuesday produced at least two tornadoes in Kankakee County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The NWS reports that the first tornado was spotted just before 2 p.m. in Bonfield, a village about 12 miles west of Kankakee, Illinois. The NWS said the tornado was confirmed by a spotter through a photograph.

The second tornado was spotted at 2:20 p.m. just outside of Manteno. NWS officials say it was confirmed by a spotter through a video.
The NWS said the line of scattered showers and isolated storms will continue
moving east through northwest Indiana through the early evening hours. The
storms could bring strong winds ranging between 45 and 55 MPH as well as heavy
rain.
River Flood Warnings and Wind Advisories remain in effect for several counties across the state.
At 3:05 p.m., the NWS issued a special weather statement for Jasper and Porter counties warning about the possibility of funnel clouds and some brief weak tornadoes on Tuesday. According to the NWS, weather conditions around parts of the state are favorable for the development of funnel clouds and officials say if a tornado were to occur, it would likely be short lived and weak.
