NWS: Isolated storms possible for Monday

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The National Weather Service of Abilene and San Angelo has predicted potential rainfall in parts of West Texas for Monday, March 4.

According to an announcement released by the NWS, isolated thunderstorms are possibly on the horizon for the following West Texas cities:

  • San Angelo

  • Abilene

  • Ozona

  • Sonora

  • Junction

  • Brady

  • Brownwood

Sonora, Junction, Brady and Brownwood are within an area where thunderstorms may be “severe,” with primary hazards being quarter-sized hail and damaging winds.

The storms are expected to start in the afternoon hours and last into the evening.

Even with the possibility of rain, Monday is still predicted to hold the highest temperature for the week at 82 F before dropping to a low of 50 F. A 10-15 mph west-southwest wind will also accompany the afternoon heat before slightly shifting course and dying down, becoming a 5-10 mph southwest wind by nightfall.
