NWS confirms EF-2 tornado touched down near Kewanee on March 31
The National Weather Service Quad Cities Iowa/Illinois confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down just west of Kewanee on March 31. The NWS made the announcement on April 7 on social media.
The NWS reported the tornado touched down at 6:37 p.m. and had estimated peak winds of 118 mph, and traveled 6.7 miles. The twister was determined to have a maximum width of 650 yards. The northern portions of the town sustained damage to trees and sheds. The tornado lasted six minutes.
