NTSB releases initial report on Jackson County plane crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary investigation report finding for last month’s deadly plane crash in Jackson County.

The flight took off from the James A. Rhodes Airport for Haines City, Florida, just after 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 24.

The report says a flight instructor told investigators that the takeoff appeared normal, but because of the heavy snowfall and restricted visibility, he didn’t feel the flight would have a good outcome.

A man who lives near the airport said he saw the plane turn left and start circling back toward the airport, then heard a “crunching sound” shortly after.

The plane crashed about a half mile from the end of the departure runway.

The three people on the plane – Daniel Baker, Zebulon Logan, and Dan Baker – died in the crash.
