Now I Don't Know What to Believe

What’s up, Doc? From CNN:

"I have no concerns about his cognitive ability," Dr. Ronny Jackson told reporters on Tuesday. He said the testing was conducted at the President's wishes, and the results were normal. Ahead of the exam, the White House said that tests for mental acuity would not be included. The question arose after a week of speculation about Trump's mental fitness for office, spurred by the publication of a damaging book that suggested Trump's own aides worry about his stability.

It was an altogether remarkable press conference by Jackson, who also functioned as personal physician to President Barack Obama. We are told that the current septuagenarian president* is one pound shy of qualifying as obese, that he does not eat well or exercise enough, but that he’s in good health because of his “incredible genes.” From the New York Daily News:

"I told the President if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old," Jackson told reporters. "He has incredible genes, I just assume. If I didn't watch what I eat, I wouldn't have the cardiac and overall health that he has. He's very healthy despite he does those things."

Jackson spoke for over 50 minutes. The problem is that a lot of what he said doesn’t make sense. For example, I don’t believe that the president* weighs 239 pounds, or that his resting heart rate is 68. I don’t care whether he’s got a platinum genome or not. The man looks like a UPS truck on the golf course. But Jackson is completely legit. This is incomparably strange and, for the nonce, I’m going to believe my lying eyes.
