WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Joe Biden delivered the keynote address during the National Holocaust Museum Days of Remembrance Ceremony at the U.S. Capitol. While the world remembers the promise “Never Again” pro-Palestine protests rage on at college campuses and the Israel-Hamas war escalates.

President Biden marked this solemn day by denouncing what he called the “ferocious surge of antisemitism” around the world.

“We will not forget,” said Biden.

President Biden honored the six million people killed during the Holocaust in front of Holocaust survivors at the U.S. Capitol Tuesday.

“We recommit to heeding the lessons of one of the darkest chapters in human history,” he said.

A chapter Hamas tried to repeat on October 7th, the deadliest day for Jews since World War II.

“People are already forgetting that Hamas unleashed this terror,” said Biden.

President Biden condemned the surge of antisemitism since the Israel-Hamas war began in Gaza.

“This hatred continues to lie deep in the hearts of too many people in the world,” he said.

The National Holocaust Museum Days of Remembrance Ceremony came as pro-Palestinian protests continue to rock college campuses across the country.

“There is no place on any campus in America, any place in America for antisemitism or hate speech or threats of violence of any kind,” Biden said.

House Speaker Mike Johnson agreed with the president.

“We must protect our Jewish students, and we must give our full-throated unequivocal support to the nation of Israel,” Johnson said.

While the House plans to bring in more officials Wednesday to testify about the protests the Biden administration announced new efforts Tuesday to address threats on campuses including educating communities about the funding available to them.

“We must put an end to this madness,” Johnson said.

The White House said you can expect the president to take further action against antisemitism but said again the president believes in the right to peacefully protest.
