Northern warns of train disruption amid heavy rain
Northern has warned of disruption to rail services because of the wet weather forecast to hit Yorkshire across the next two days.
Speed restrictions will be put in place on a number of routes between 16:00 BST on Wednesday and 12:00 on Thursday, while minor delays are also expected.
The operator's Hull to Halifax service will also stop and restart from Bradford Interchange.
Passengers have been warned to plan ahead.
A yellow weather warning for heavy rain is currently in place across northern England and the Midlands and is expected to be in place until around midday on Thursday.
Parts of Yorkshire may get a month's worth of rain in the space of 36 hours.
Northern said the following disruption would be caused to services:
- Hull to Halifax (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until midday on Thursday, all services will terminate and restart at Bradford Interchange.
The first service affected by this change will be the 14:14 from Hull. The 23:27 from Leeds to Halifax will run as booked. Alternative services will still operate between Bradford Interchange and Halifax in both directions.
- York to Blackpool North (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until 12:00 on Thursday, all services will be subject to a 50mph speed restriction between York and Hebden Bridge.
- Leeds to Chester/Manchester Victoria via Halifax (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until 12:00 on Thursday, all services will be subject to a 50mph speed restriction between Leeds and Todmorden.
- Leeds to Wigan Wallgate (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until 12:00 on Thursday, all services will be subject to a 50mph speed restriction between Mirfield and Todmorden.
- Huddersfield to Bradford Interchange (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until 12:00 on Thursday, minor delays can be expected on this route.
- Leeds to York via Micklefield (both directions)
From 16:00 on Wednesday until 12:00 on Thursday, all services will be subject to a 50mph speed restriction.
