Northern Nevada agency touts $1B in impact

Northern Nevada development agency, governor, tout $1 billion in economic impact

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Gov. Brian Sandoval and leaders of Northern Nevada Development Authority say efforts to lure companies to the five-county region has resulted in a $1 billion overall economic impact.

Sandoval and Development Authority director Rob Hooper held a press conference in Carson City Monday to talk about the threshold.

Sandoval says that over the last three years the efforts equate to about 4,000 new jobs.

Both Sandoval and Hooper credit tax incentives, lifestyle and new coordination between employers and the state's higher education system for attracting companies.
