Northern Minnesota man dies in crash with semi

Oct. 8—INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. — A 72-year-old Baudette, Minnesota, man is dead after a Friday afternoon crash.

Ambulances from Lake of the Woods, Birchdale, International Falls and Baudette responded to a crash at 4:10 p.m. Friday on Minnesota Highway 11 at County Road 4, in northwest Koochiching County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Michael Arthur Cisar, 51, of Cloquet, was traveling east on Highway 11 in a Peterbilt semitractor-trailer, when Gary Lee Warnken — traveling south from Frontier Public Landing — allegedly failed to yield right of way.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the semi hit the passenger side of Warnken's 2001 Mazda Tribute, and he was reported dead at the scene. Cisar was not injured.

The State Patrol reported that Warnken's airbag deployed, and he was not wearing a seat belt.

Alcohol was not involved, authorities said.
