Northern lights possible tonight, beautiful Mother’s Day

Low pressure tracking across the Northeast pulled a trailing cold front southeast through the region, preceded by showers and scattered storms. Blustery and cool weather moved in, with clouds breaking.
Tonight, we will see clearing skies and gradually diminishing winds, along with another chance of viewing the northern lights later. Morning readings will fall into the mid-40s.
Sunshine will brighten Mother’s Day, as high pressure builds across the Great Lakes into the Ohio Valley. Afternoon readings will edge back into the low 70s.
A frontal boundary will lift northward on Monday early next week, putting the region back into a southerly flow of moist air. A slow-moving storm system in the central part of the country will track eastward across the Ohio Valley on Tuesday.
Several rounds of showers and a few embedded storms will develop on Monday evening and continue on Tuesday. Temperatures will reach the 70s despite cloudiness.
A drier pattern, with high pressure nosing southward, will bring more sunshine Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures in the 70s. A cold front will bring back rain and storms Friday, before pushing rain south of the region next weekend
