Northern California Shooting | Deputy shot and suspect killed in Colfax

A Placer County Sheriff's deputy was shot and a suspect killed following a shootout Thursday night in Colfax. The deputy was taken to a hospital in critical, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said. The shootout happened around 11 p.m. after deputies on patrol found a van in a McDonald’s parking lot matching the description of a van connected to a burglary that occurred in the area on Wednesday. Deputies tried talking to the man inside the van but he was uncooperative, the sheriff's office said. At some point, the man shot at the deputies with a gun.
