All lanes open after hit-and-run crash with semi causes fire on I-405 in Renton

All lanes of northbound Interstate 405 in Renton were blocked after a semitruck caught fire following a hit-and-run crash.

The Washington State Patrol said the suspect vehicle is a green older Honda Civic.

The HOV lane reopened at around 8:20 a.m.

As of 3:20, all lanes have reopened.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported the incident at 6:17 a.m. during the busy Tuesday morning commute.

The fire happened at State Route 900/Northeast Park near Northeast Sunset Boulevard. The truck was carrying pallets of concrete.

At 6:29 a.m., Trooper Rick Johnson said the incident was fatal but a short time later said no one died after all.

The driver was not hurt.

Traffic was detoured off at State Route 169/Maple Valley Highway.

At one point, WSDOT said the backup was 4 miles.
