North Newton officer to be honored at national vigil

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A North Newton Police Officer who died in 2021 will be honored during the annual National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Candlelight Vigil.

Brian Rousseau, 46, has been with the North Newton Police Department since 2018. He previously served with the Newton Police Department for 18 years.

He died Dec. 28, 2021, from complications of COVID-19. Rousseau is survived by his wife and two children.

Rousseau is one of many police officers from across the United States whose names will be read aloud during tonight’s vigil. It occurs at 7 p.m. CDT at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
