North Carolina woman shot in car dies, police say; no arrests made

LAURINBURG, N.C. (WBTW) — A Fayetteville woman found unresponsive inside a vehicle Thursday night in Laurinburg after being shot has died, according to Laurinburg police Capt. Chris Young.

Denver Jamesia Quick, 37, died Sunday at an undisclosed medical center, Young said. No arrests have been made in her death.

Laurinburg police responded at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday to the area of Samao and Wagram Street in Laurinburg to investigate a report of shots being fired. Officers found a silver Chevrolet Malibu crashed with gunshots.

Quick, who formally lived in Laurinburg, was unresponsive in the driver’s seat unresponsive after being shot, police said. It is unclear how many times or where Quick was shot.

She was taken to a nearby medical facility in critical condition and then moved to another unnamed medical center, police said.

The investigation found that Quick had been driving on Wagram Street when an unknown person or persons fired multiple shots into the vehicle, police said.
