North Carolina School Receptionist Sings 'At Last' on Last Day of Work Before Summer Vacation

One North Carolina high school receptionist was so excited for the final day of school that she belted out Etta James’ classic "At Last" over the loudspeaker.

Regina Ballard, 57, clearly couldn’t wait to go on summer break as she took to the school's PA system on her last day and performed the song at North Lincoln High School last week.

One of her co-workers recorded her rendition of the iconic tune and posted it on social media, where it has since gone viral.

Ballard told USA Today that she purposefully sang the song on the loudspeaker, as she knew there would not be many people around to hear it.

But little did she know, her performance would be played for the largest audience in the world — the internet — and it now seems like everyone has heard her sing.

She added that she loves her job, but is looking forward to spending the summer with her children and grandchildren.

She will return to the school in August after spending part of the summer on vacation in Orlando, Fla.
