This North Carolina man won a big Powerball prize on $3 ticket, lottery officials say

A North Carolina man hit a big Powerball prize on a $3 ticket, NC lottery officials said Saturday.

Charlotte resident Fekri Soussi scored $100,000 on the Power Play ticket he bought at Adams Mart on Elm Lane in the city, according to a lottery news release.

His Quick Pick ticket matched four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000 in Monday’s drawing, officials said. When the 2X multiplier hit, he doubled his win.

He beat odds of 1 in 913,129, according to the Powerball page on NCLottery.com.

Soussi didn’t say what he’ll do with the money when he claimed his prize Friday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, officials said. He couldn’t be reached by The Charlotte Observer.

After taxes, he took home $71,257, according to the lottery.

Mystery Powerball winner

The winner of a $250,000 Powerball prize remained a mystery Saturday as no one has claimed that big win, officials said.

The player bought the ticket in Charlotte using Online Play, according to a lottery news release.

Another recent Powerball winner in the state claimed his $1 million prize Friday, according to the lottery.

Kings Mountain resident Toney Peavey bought his $2 Quick Pick ticket at the Circle K on Cleveland Avenue in Kings Mountain, officials said. The numbers on his ticket in the Saturday, June 3, drawing matched the five white balls, netting him $712,501, according to the lottery.

He beat odds of 1 in 11.688 million, the Powerball game page shows.

Saturday’s Powerball drawing offered a $308 million jackpot, or $160.1 million in cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
