North Brunswick man arrested by FBI in Atlanta, charged with East Brunswick man's killing

Three men have been charged in connection with a shooting that took place Friday on Easton Avenue, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Vincent Sabo of the New Brunswick Police Department.

The FBI has arrested a North Brunswick man in Atlanta who has been charged in the fatal shooting of an East Brunswick man earlier this month in New Brunswick.

Malik Stringer, 23, was arrested without incident on Monday by the FBI in Atlanta and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Stringer has been charged with murder, attempted murder and unlawful possession of a handgun in the death of 23-year-old Nathaniel Edwards Jr., the prosecutor’s office said.

Police responded at 10:18 a.m. Jan. 9 to the area of Remsen Avenue and Seaman Street on a report of a shooting, where they found Edwards with a gunshot wound, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Edwards was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, the prosecutor’s office said.
