“We can return to the peaceful order that worked (before the full-scale war in Ukraine) and make it safe again – if there is a willingness in Russia to return to this peaceful order,” said Scholz.

At the same time, the chancellor stressed that there was no longer any talk of partnership with Moscow, since Russia has ruined the peaceful order Europe labored for decades to establish.
“Russia has spoilt the peace order we worked on for so many decades and we agreed there should never again be an attempt to change borders by force,” the chancellor said.

“We have to go back to the agreements which we had in the last decades, which were the basis for peace and security in Europe. And for Russia, this also means that it must accept that there are open-minded societies, open societies, democracies, that follow a completely different way of how they are governed and how they attract people.”
On Dec. 1, Scholz said Germany would support Ukraine in the fight against the Russian invasion until Kyiv ultimately emerges victorious.
