Noridian doubling volume of federal business with 5-year, $345 million Medicare contract

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Noridian Administrative Services says it will more than double its volume of federal business with a new five-year Medicare claims processing contract.

Noridian will handle Medicare Part A and Part B claims for California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Northern Mariana Islands. Combined with existing Medicare claims contracts, Noridian will administer about 15 percent of Medicare's national volume of business.

Noridian says it will be hiring 500 more employees throughout the country, many of them in North Dakota and California, due to the new $345 million contract. The company currently has about 900 workers.

Noridian Administrative Services is a subsidiary of Noridian Mutual Insurance Company, which does business as Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.
