Norfolk SPCA facing ‘overload’ has 5 new adorable husky puppies

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Five husky puppies are among the 47 new animals that the overloaded Norfolk SPCA has taken in just since Mother’s Day.

The Norfolk SPCA, a no-kill humane society off Ballentine Blvd., put out a call for help on Tuesday on social media, saying they also received 17 cats and kittens recently from a hoarding situation.

They’re requesting donations to support their efforts, as well as asking people to foster/adopt.

“Like most shelters in our area and across the country, the Norfolk SPCA also does not have room, the shelter said. “But the good news is we do have a strong, dedicated network of foster families. If it wasn’t for our foster families, there is no way we could help as many animals as we do.”

They said so far this year, they’ve taken in over 600 animals and have placed 322 in foster care.

The Norfolk SPCA says the five husky puppies came in just this week. Three were with their momma, Penelope. They all lived outside on a chain, the SPCA said. The two other husky puppies, Garcia and Haney, were picked up by a rural shelter on stray hold and then taken to Norfolk. The huskies are expected to be available for adoption in the coming weeks.

The SPCA even posted a video with one of the husky pups giving a nice “awooo!”

You can see more photos of the huskies and other dogs and cats on the SPCA’s Facebook page.
