Norfolk Peace Officers Memorial Service to be held May 14

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — On Tuesday, May 14, the Norfolk Police Department will hold it annual Peace Officers Memorial Service.

The public is invited to attend this event that brings together survivors of fallen officers to remember their loved ones.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy established National Police Week and proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day. This year National Police Week is observed May 12 through May 18.

The event takes place at 10 a.m. at MacArthur Memorial Center Square, 198 Bank Street.
