Norfolk is hosting 4 flood strategy sessions in March

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – It’s common knowledge that Norfolk has a flooding issue, but there are efforts to do something about it.

The city is hosting four Resilient Norfolk Flood Strategy Open Houses in March at different locations throughout the city.

The open houses will provide information on the plans and funding that will be used to address the flooding problem.

Norfolk receives $10 million to combat flooding

According to a news release from the city, the open houses will cover topics such as Understanding Flood Risk, Stormwater Improvements, Coastal Storm Risk Management Structural Projects, Emergency Preparedness and Tips to Protect Your Property.

City representatives will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the flooding strategy.

The open houses will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • March 14: Southside STEM Academy at Campostella, 1106 Campostella Rd.

  • March 19: East Ocean View Senior Center, 9520 20th Bay St.

  • March 21: Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch Library, 1425 Norchester Ave.

  • March 25: Lambert’s Point Community Center, 1251 W 42nd St.

All open houses will contain the same information.
