Norfolk Fire-Rescue respond to trash fire at senior living community

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk Fire-Rescue responded to a trash fire at Sherwood Cove Apartments late Thursday night.

According to officials, units were dispatched at 10:43 p.m. after being notified of a fire alarm at the Sherwood Cove Senior Living Apartments near South Military Highway.

Crews arrived to find a trash fire in an interior dumpster located in the first floor maintenance room, causing the incident to be upgraded to a structural fire.

The dumpster was moved outside of the building, and the fire was considered under control by 11:02 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and no one has been displaced.

Crews are still working to determine the cause of the incident.
