Nor'easter could bring flooding, snow to Delaware
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Delaware officials are bracing for the possibility of flooding and more beach erosion along the southern coast from a nor'easter that is hitting the East Coast barely a week after Superstorm Sandy.
The storm also was expected to bring two to five inches of snow to northern Delaware, prompting a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service and forcing some schools to cancel after-school activities Wednesday.
A high wind warning and a coastal flood warning were in effect for Sussex County through Thursday morning, with possible wind gusts as high as 60 mph and tidal flooding in low-lying areas.
Sussex County officials said flooding is likely along Route 1 north of the Indian River inlet and in low-lying areas such as Oak Orchard and Long Neck.
