SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — New charges are filed against a man accused of kidnapping the daughter of a woman whose body was found in a suitcase.

Wednesday, federal prosecutors filed two new charges against Mahamud Mahamed, 39, formerly of Noel. The new charges include one count of kidnapping resulting in death and one count of stalking resulting in death. He is also, still charged with one count of kidnapping a minor.

The charges are connected to the July 2019 death of Jessica McCormack, of Noel. Her body was discovered in a suitcase near Highway 59 between Lanagan and Noel.

According to court papers, Mahamed stalked her from April 1 to July 17 of 2019 which resulted in her death. She was last seen on July 16 in the company of Mahamed and her three daughters who were 4, 2 and 6-months old.

Investigators say after her body was found, her daughters couldn’t be located. Authorities say he left them in Iowa with a woman he used to work with in Noel.

The father of the oldest child said he didn’t give Mahamed permission to take his daughter out of state.
