With No Deal to Report, Merkel Cancels Euro Debt Crisis Speech

Even though French President Nicolas Sarkozy skipped his daughter's birth to save Europe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has cancelled a speech scheduled for tomorrow because Germany and France still can't agree on a solution to the European debt crisis. The two countries have been discussing how much to increase funding to the European Financial Stability Fund, with France pushing Germany to commit more money than its willing to. The French president even flew to Frankfurt yesterday as his wife was in labor, but alas, officials hope they can come to a deal before next week, when European leaders are again schedule to meet.
