A free tumbler handed out with Nutrl beverages at Newfoundland and Labrador liquor stores is being recalled over safety concerns.

A press release from the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation on Tuesday afternoon says Nutrl Canada has confirmed through the cup's manufacturer that a defect could cause the tumblers to "release a contaminant" when they're filled with liquid.

The cup was handed out at liquor stores with the purchase of Nutrl vodka-and-soda beverages in April and May, according to a press release from the corporation.

The release says Nutrl is working with Health Canada to notify customers.

Anyone who received a tumbler is being asked to stop using it immediately and call 1-866-846-1778 for more information.
