NJ Transit service at NY Penn Station delayed due to stuck-open bridge

NJ Transit was forced to shut down service to and from New York's Penn Station on Thursday morning due to a stuck-open Amtrak Portal Bridge, disrupting commuter travel in the region.

The incident led to the diversion of Midtown Direct service to Hoboken before noon, causing inconvenience to commuters relying on the rail service.

NJ Transit rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by PATH at Newark Penn Station, Hoboken, and 33rd Street in New York City.

The duration of the service interruption remains uncertain as the repair efforts on the Amtrak bridge continue.

Amtrak attributed the issue to maintenance problems and cautioned passengers to expect heavy delays between New York and Newark.

Further updates on alternate service arrangements can be found through official channels.
