Nitrogen gas execution of Kenneth Smith scheduled, execution protocol to begin this evening

ATMORE, Ala. (WKRG) — Alabama death row inmate Kenneth Smith’s time is ticking as the state prepares to put him to death.

Mobile Police investigating man’s death after ‘domestic incident’

Smith’s execution protocol was scheduled to begin Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his request to halt the execution. Following the start of the protocol, Alabama has 12 hours to put him to death.

As the second of two men sentenced to die for the murder-for-hire scheme of Elizabeth Sennett, a number of protests are expected to happen around Holman Prison where the execution will take place.
