Nike headquarters to shed more employees in second phase of layoffs

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Following layoffs in February, Nike is expected to let more employees go from its Washington County campus location.

According to Nike, these layoffs are the second phase of the ones that began a few months ago, bringing the total now to 740 employees laid off from that location.

In February, Nike announced its plans to “right-size” its workforce, by laying off two percent of their workforce.

Nike’s always at our best when we’re on the offense. The actions that we’re taking put us in the position to right-size our organization to get after our biggest growth opportunities as interest in sport, health and wellness have never been stronger. While these changes will impact approximately 2% of our total workforce, we are grateful for the contributions made by all Nike teammates.
