LONDON (AP) — Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson could face questions Wednesday about alleged drug use when she appears as a witness at the fraud trial of her former personal assistants.
Lawson is due to testify as a prosecution witness against Italian sisters Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo. They are accused of living the high life by using credit cards loaned to them by Lawson and her ex-husband Charles Saatchi.
She arrived outside the courthouse dressed in black and seemed composed despite the intense media interest in the case.
The case has shone a light on the breakdown of Lawson's 10-year marriage to art collector Saatchi. They divorced in July after he was photographed clutching Lawson's throat at a London restaurant.
Defense lawyers have claimed Lawson used illegal drugs, but Saatchi told the court last week that he had no knowledge that his former wife had ever used illegal drugs.
