Nicki Minaj Is Still Editing ‘Queen’ Album As We Speak

Better late than never?

There are few things more intense than a perfectionist at work, or (even more specifically) after work. Take Nicki Minaj, who is still fresh off the release of her long-teased Queen album. When it hit all digital platforms, it was 19 songs long, with featured guests including Future, Swae Lee, Foxy Brown, Eminem, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and Lil Wayne. “FEFE,” the controversial collaboration with Tekashi 69, was nowhere to be found. That is, up until now.

Nicki has officially added the then-freebie song to the tail-end of her album on Spotify and as a bonus track to the album on Apple Music. In a CRWN interview last night, the “Chun-Li” rapper told Elliott Wilson about the new addition. “We added ‘FEFE,’” she said. “Shout-out to my baby Tekashi. I love him. Because of streaming, we can update the albums.” (Elsewhere in the interview, she defended her decision to collaborate with the problematic, candy-haired upstart, saying that “FEFE” reminded her “Slumber Party” by Gucci Mane.)

She also tweeted that she wanted to adjust the hook of “Ganga Burns.” “Just listened to #GangaBurns after a long day & realized that I hate how low I made the hook,” she wrote. “Gotta get it swapped out. That’s like my fave song & I can’t let it go out like that. Plus I was so sleep deprived I wrote burns instead of burn when they were stressing me 4 tracklists.”

Nicki Minaj is taking a page out of Kanye West’s playbook. After he released The Life Of Pablo, he notoriously went to make a few tweaks and updates after it had already been released to the public.
